If anyone is looking for a fun new philanthropy idea please read about TX Eta's Playoffs events. Their VPP sent me the following information and they have thought of lots of important details to make the event fun for participants and members!
"We also just had our spring philanthropy fundraiser this weekend. It is called Pi Phi Playoffs and is a Home Run Derby for the boys. There are teams of 8 boys who pay an entry fee of $12. Each guy gets 10 outs (an out in anything that isn't a homerun). The girls can apply to be a spirit team leader, in which they are given a group of girls and are then assigned to cheer on a team of guys throughout the day. It is single elimination, and when your team of boys gets out, your spirit team joins the spirit team of the group you just lost too. This year we did something different by letting girls sign up for either a morning shift or an afternoon shift of about 4 hours, which seemed to work really well! At the end there is a winner of the morning bracket & the afternoon bracket and the girls from the morning shift come back to cheer, so the whole chapter is there. The runner up team got some food gift cards and another prize. The winning team usually gets Astros tickets/Rockets tickets & this year I believe they may have gotten tickets to the Houston Rodeo. We sell concessions, also in case anyone gets hungry."
