OK Alpha's nomination
"Each week facts were given to lead up to the final chapter in which members who applied were selected to attend as well as legislation was discussed. One member of the Freshman class said, “By implementing information into our chapter meetings about former conventions and the upcoming convention in Dallas, TX, many of the members in my pledge class [2008] seemed more excited about Pi Phi and wanted to learn further about what type of legislation is voted on at convention."
Excellence in Literacy Activities: AR Alpha
-Recognizes chapter commitment to both literacy service and fundraising activities. Chapter demonstrates a strong understanding of Pi Phi’s role in literacy and promotes this on campus and in the community.
AR Alpha's nomination
"During the Spaghetti Supper, we held our First Book Speed Read. We had a station set up by the door where members of the community attending the event could choose to participate in the Speed Read and pay a dollar to support Literacy. This was a new way of incorporating the Speed Read, but still seemed to bring us success"
Excellence in New Member Programming: TX Delta
-Recognizes inventive activities that promote sisterhood, retention and the demonstration of values education within the program. Programming MUST be of a higher level than new member program outline and show creative thinking for valuing and integrating new members into the chapter.
TX Delta's nomination
"New member retreat is an event the New Member team plans. Here, everything was carefully planned out and was fit to every girl’s personal needs. Through each part of the retreat, I felt that it was fun, creative, and meaningful. We played games, we had reflection time, we had time to share what means the most to us. I had no idea that in 12 hours, you could honestly know 55 girls like you have known them for years."
I hope you enjoy reading a small sampling of the nomination letters. Hopefully this will encourage you to think outside the box and know that every chapter can be an award winning chapter!
