VPFD Ideas from August

-AR Alpha gives us a great idea for Littles to meet their Bigs-"In preparation for the Big Sis/Lil Sis reveal, VPFD has organized a sort of speed dating event for the 2007 new member class and the 2008 new member classes to get to know each other before Big Sis/ Lil Sis matchings are made. This will be a great way to form sisterhood and hopefully foster good relations early on for the new member class."

-In addition to teaching the NM the information outlined in the NM Coordinator manual, I have added little fun “Appearances”. Each week some of the Founders visit and teach the NM a little more about themselves. I choose seniors to dress up and relay the information that I read in “A Century of Friendship”

-MS Beta was lucky to be able to initiate an alum initiate in September. What a wonderful experience for all of the current chapter members to take part in!

-I have also started contacting alumni to have them come in and talk a little about their time as a TN Delta Pi Phi. I am trying to get one alumnae from each decade

-TX Epsilon has some great programming plans.
Each new member receives a Values Refresher handout that is to be added to the “Wings Work” section of their Local New Member pages every week (good replacement name for the NM homework)

Monmouth Duo
This is the first time that we are hosting a Monmouth Duo event with Kappa Kappa Gamma on our campus.
It will be held on September 5th at a local pottery shop in town where members will paint small tiles to be hung up in our chapter houses.
Members will also participate in a trivia competition based on Pi Phi and Kappa facts. Members who get the most questions right will win a prize. At our September 2nd chapter meeting, members received “study sheets” of Kappa facts so that they would know ahead of time what to expect during the trivia section

-TX Eta had a values refresher on August 13th. For this activity I split the chapter into six groups. Each group was given one of Pi Phi’s core values. With the assigned value each group thought of how this value was strong in our chapter and ways we could improve the use of this value in our chapter. Each group presented their ideas and we came up with goals to better incorporate the values in our chapter. Also each member did an individual assessment of her values. They each had to pick a value she felt she best possessed and value she could most improve. Each girl wrote down a specific goal to help improve her values. These goals will be given back to each girl at the end of the semester so they are able to see if they reached their goal
